THE MOST HOLY TRINITY
Stewardship Thought for the Week
“God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone
who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal
life.” John 3:16
How do
you say “thank you” to the God who has given His only Son to us? What
can you give back in return? A life of stewardship is the only way to
truly show your love and appreciation to God. A life of stewardship
is a life of giving back time, talent and treasure to God.
 From
the Pastor….
Dear Friends,
I would like to thank everyone who brought food this past weekend for
the Manna Food Drive which benefited our sister parish, Our Lady of
the Blessed Sacrament. The response was overwhelming!! Anne Murphy
reported that we received about 500 bags!! I know everyone is aware
of the food crisis that is facing the poor. We can see for ourselves
how the food prices have risen. Helping those in need is a fantastic
act of charity and stewardship.
I also want to thank parishioners who constantly bring
bags of food in to the office and the Rosemont Chapel. Food can be
dropped off at the parish office Monday through Friday any time
between 9:00am and 4:00pm. The Rosemont Chapel is also open on
Saturday if that works best for you. The commitment to the poor is
truly a hallmark of St. Thomas of Villanova Parish. Our patron, as
you already know, is sometimes titled “Father of the Poor.”
We are in the midst of taking our parish survey. We did
send out notices by email as a way to remind parishioners. Over the
years we have been gathering email addresses when people register and
also when we updated our census a few years back. However, about 100
emails were returned. If you have changed your email or did not
receive a notice by email because we might not have your address, it
would really help if you could notify the parish office at:
stvoffice@verizon.net. Thanks for your help with the emails and I
encourage you to take the survey!
Since Villanova University is graduating this weekend and
we are having all of our weekend masses at the Rosemont Chapel, I am
reminded of all the members of our parish who are also graduating from
college. I congratulate you on this significant event in your lives!
Your graduation is the beginning of another stage in your lives. I
pray that the Lord will bless you as you continue to grow in what your
life-plans may be!!
Finally, we are back into Ordinary Time although that will
not be too evident on the weekends since there are a few major feasts
that we will be celebrating these next few weeks. Ordinary time is
one of my favorite times since it reminds me of our everyday lives.
Yes we have some major things to celebrate in life, like graduations
etc., but it is in the daily living that we are challenged to see how
God is with us, helping, guiding and inviting us to live using our
gifts and talents in ways that help us grow. Ordinary Time is when we
realize how extraordinary life is when we allow Christ to be our guide
and helper. The invitation is always there. Once we accept, God
constantly uses us as messengers of his love and his mercy.
Peace,
Fr. Rich
